We tested the 2017 Bentley Bentayga model in May 2017, its off road capabilities on taking it onto a shoot, it’s special capacity with shooting luggage and terrain abilities.
Striking and grandiose, one may think this Bentley is far too pretty to take over the moors or even just the Surrey Hills. As we loaded the car up with Blaser rifles, Chapman luggage and our shooting accessory kit, its not the anticipated a struggling barge as the press have previously stated: it seamlessly streamed over the land, humming over the country floor as we dragged our gear in the back. We were impressed; as the engine also features the first-ever combination of direct-injection and port-injection technologies in a production engine from Bentley. It switches seamlessly between the two to deliver the most efficient performance. The latest twin-scroll turbochargers have been engineered for optimum response, removing any hint of turbo lag.
This powerful, all-terrain, all-purpose car offers an exceptional driving experience. As well as having the most technically advanced engine in its category, the Bentayga can offer a Mulliner Driving Specification fitted as standard and a choice of more paint colours than any other SUV. Bentayga brings together outstanding performance and unparalleled levels of luxury on and off-road. Hill descent control comes as standard for those tricky downward declines, and speed sensitive, variable ratio Electric Power Steering does the rest for you.
The lack of chrome on this model reflects the very British design, ideal for an understated shooting car, as the boot capacity is vast and will of course accommodate guns and luggage as we show.
Travelling over high grass? The car has 4 height controls. Terrain really is no issue here. Choosing to tow is even done for you with the electronically retracting tow bar. Everything has been thought through so finely, you never know you needed it ‘til now. The imposing 9 ft 10 wheelbase accommodates guns kept by your side in the front and the back seats. Sit comfortably with your side lock ejector or over-and-under, and the leg room is stretch-worthy. In permanent wheel drive, the 8 speed gear box takes no learning. Designed to ease all aspects of motoring, this car is the epitome of functional, just how luxury intended.

With its innovative Event Seat making rear boot dwelling ultra-comfortable, the Bentayga makes luxury functional, available at an extra £2,520. The patented sliding and folding seat is trimmed in leather and finished with diamond quilting. This is driven shooting the height of luxury, enabling you to spend all day with it, safe in the knowledge you will be in the utmost comfort.
Assist your shooting friends in the back with dimmed lighting on the way home with the rear centre console, completed in, of course a choice of 15 standard colour hides. Four, five or seven seat versions are also available.
