Classic Canes Blackthorn Thumbstick
An unusual and highly sought-after traditional country walking stick. Made from blackthorn wood, which is distinguished by its knobbly appearance and rich colour, which may be any shade of deep red through to black. Blackthorn usually forms a shrubby bush, and lengths of raw material long enough to make into thumbsticks are rare. A natural 'V' in the wood forms the handle, which may be held with the thumb resting lightly in the 'V'.
Fitted with a 'Combi-spike' ferrule: a rubber ferrule fitted over a spiked one so that the stick may be used on hard and soft ground.
Overall height between 122-135cm (48-53").
